How to Extract Emails from Google Sheets and Online Spreadsheets

On this page

For online spreadsheets, export the data as XLSX or CSV and add the downloaded file to Email Extractor. This avoids depending on what the spreadsheet application exposes as readable page text. Copying cells is useful for smaller selections, provided you check what was copied.

Export from Google Sheets

  1. Open the spreadsheet using an account allowed to download it.
  2. Choose File > Download > Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) for a workbook, or CSV for the sheet you need.
  3. Open Email Extractor's Text and files tab and click Upload files.
  4. Add the file, then click Extract emails.
  5. Review source details and choose Download TXT, Download CSV or CSV with sources.

Google documents its download workflow in Export spreadsheets. Download availability can depend on the owner's sharing settings. Check the exported workbook or CSV for the intended sheets, rows and columns before extracting.

Export from Airtable

In a grid view, open the menu beside the view name and choose Download CSV, if available. A CSV export represents the source view. Filters applied by a visitor to a shared-view link do not change its CSV export. Verify the exported records and columns before extracting. Shared-view owners may disable downloading. See Airtable's grid-view export instructions.

Add the CSV to Email Extractor and click Extract emails. Export separate tables separately when needed.

Export from Notion

Open the page menu, choose Export, then Markdown & CSV. Download and unzip the archive; upload the relevant CSV files from database exports. Markdown pages containing contact text can also be added as supported text files. Check the export's scope and your permissions. See Notion's export guide.

Email Extractor does not accept ZIP archives as spreadsheet inputs. Unzip first and select supported files.

Copy a selected range instead

  1. Select the cells you need inside the spreadsheet application.
  2. Copy them with Ctrl+C or Cmd+C.
  3. Paste into Text and files in the main app and click Extract emails.
  4. Compare the beginning and end of the pasted content with your selection.

Copy behavior depends on the application, selection and permissions. Do not assume that copying means every row has been loaded or included. If the copied text is incomplete, use an allowed export or ask the owner for one.

Read the current Google Sheets tab with the extension

The extension is free and needs no account or token. Open the spreadsheet in your browser. For a long scan, open Reader window before starting. Use Edit extraction settings to adjust the next read.

In the extension’s Page emails tab, Read sheet tab tries the current tab’s CSV export. Google must allow downloading. Other sheet tabs are not read. If the export request fails, the extension checks text exposed on the open page. Any result is marked as partial: canvas-only cells and unloaded rows can be missing. If no email addresses are exposed, it keeps your previously saved list and explains the failure. When downloading is allowed, you can also use Google’s File > Download > CSV action and upload the file in Text and files in the main app.

Saved emails stay on your device in this extension and browser. You can search, copy, download and delete them after closing the spreadsheet. A new read needs the source spreadsheet open.

Why reading the browser tab can miss cells

Some spreadsheet applications draw a graphical grid or keep only part of a large dataset in the accessible page. The extension reads available content; it cannot guarantee access to every cell, unloaded record or restricted frame. Its page reader is best used for accessible text, not as a replacement for a complete spreadsheet export.

The server-side webpage loader also does not inherit your login cookies. A public sharing link is not necessarily a plain-text export, and a private spreadsheet link cannot be loaded using your signed-in session on the server.

Check limits and results

The file limits are 25 MB per file and 100 MB per batch. Split larger exports into smaller batches. Exported contacts can include old addresses, internal addresses and typos; extraction removes duplicates but does not verify delivery or permission to contact someone.

For supported file formats and source review, see extracting addresses from Excel and spreadsheet files.
