How to Extract Emails from BambooHR Employee Data
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from BambooHR?
BambooHR is a human resources information system (HRIS) for small and medium businesses. It provides employee records, onboarding, time-off tracking, performance management, applicant tracking, reporting, e-signatures and integrations. BambooHR stores email addresses for employees, contractors and job applicants.
Extracting email addresses from BambooHR data is useful for building internal communication lists, importing into other platforms (newsletter tools, learning management systems, benefits platforms), data migration, consolidating employee contacts or creating a backup.

Working with the Results
Import into a communication platform
Import the extracted list into a newsletter platform, learning management system, benefits platform or internal communications tool that needs employee email addresses.
Internal announcements
Use the extracted list for company-wide announcements through an email platform, especially if your organisation does not use an internal communications tool.
Data migration
If moving from BambooHR to another HRIS, extracting employee emails ensures no contacts are lost during migration.
Verify addresses
Employee email addresses are generally valid. However, for separated employees, addresses may have been deactivated. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Contact data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, departments, titles, hire dates, locations and other fields from the BambooHR export are not carried over.
Work vs personal email
BambooHR records may contain both work and personal email addresses. Both will appear in extraction results.
Active vs terminated employees
Reports may include terminated employees depending on filters. Review and filter the export before uploading if you only want current employees.
Applicant emails
BambooHR's applicant tracking module stores job applicant email addresses. These are separate from employee records.
Privacy and access
Employee data is sensitive. Ensure you have appropriate authorisation to export and use employee email addresses. Follow your company's data handling policies.
BambooHR permissions
Export access depends on user role and permissions. Admins and users with report access can typically export employee data.
