Data Enrichment Tool Comparison: Clearbit vs ZoomInfo vs Apollo vs Clay vs FullContact

Compare Enrichment Around Your Existing Records
Enrichment adds fields to a record you already hold, such as an email address, company domain or CRM contact. Contact discovery, company enrichment and identity matching require different inputs and can produce different kinds of matches.
This comparison was revised on 8 October 2026 using the linked primary documentation. It is not a hands-on accuracy or latency benchmark. Plan entitlements, credit costs and field coverage should be confirmed with each provider for the intended workflow.
| Tool | Documented capability or evaluation focus | Trial question |
|---|---|---|
| HubSpot / Clearbit context | Contact and company enrichment in HubSpot | Which records and properties are eligible, and can existing values be protected? |
| Apollo | Contact enrichment and CSV export | Are existing records enriched before export, and which status fields remain? |
| ZoomInfo | CRM enrichment listed with its sales and data offerings | Which module, connector and write-back controls does the quote include? |
| Clay | Sequential lookups using external data providers | Which lookup ends the waterfall, what counts as a match, and what actions incur charges? |
| FullContact | Person and company enrichment APIs documented by its official client | What identifiers, returned fields and permitted uses fit the project? |
HubSpot: Use the Current Enrichment Settings
HubSpot’s enrichment setup guide describes enriching contact and company records. Its record enrichment guide covers the record workflow and property choices.
Check current access, eligible identifiers and overwrite settings in your account. Do not assume a legacy standalone Clearbit API, a free HubSpot tier or historical package names describe the current offer.
Apollo: Enrich Before Exporting Existing Contacts
Apollo’s CSV export documentation says exporting existing records does not automatically enrich email or mobile fields. Review the enrichment result before downloading, and retain verification-status fields and record identifiers.
Check which enrichment and export actions use credits in your plan. Finding a populated field and establishing that it is correct are separate checks.
ZoomInfo: Specify the Connector and Fields
ZoomInfo’s corporate overview lists CRM enrichment among its offerings. Ask the provider to demonstrate the required connector, field mapping, overwrite rules, refresh process and handling of unmatched records. This review does not verify that every CRM or API capability is included in every package.
Clay: Define the Waterfall’s Success Condition
Clay’s waterfall documentation describes querying external providers in sequence until a match is found. The provider order and acceptance criteria matter: an early result can prevent later lookups from running.
Test whether the accepted values are sufficiently reliable for the downstream task. More populated fields do not automatically mean higher accuracy, and a multi-provider workflow does not guarantee a fixed number of credits per record.
FullContact: Validate the API Contract
FullContact’s official Python client links its person and company enrichment API documentation. Check the current input requirements, response schema, access agreement and permitted use before selecting it. Confirm your account’s active endpoints and entitlements rather than relying on historical API examples or prices.
Test Before Writing Back to Your CRM
Use a controlled copy of your records. Preserve original identifiers and values, record the enrichment date and provider, and review mismatches before enabling updates. Measure match coverage separately from field correctness. Test suppression, permissions and property protection with the actual CRM connector.
Email Extractor can consolidate email strings from exported files and retain their source names in CSV with sources. It does not enrich records, preserve every CRM field, decide which conflicting value is correct or verify mailbox delivery. Keep the original exports for those tasks.
