How to Extract Emails from Donorbox Donors

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Extract from Donorbox?

Donorbox is an online fundraising and donation platform used by nonprofits, charities, churches, schools and community organisations. It provides embeddable donation forms, recurring donations, peer-to-peer fundraising, crowdfunding, event ticketing, donor management and reporting. Every donor who makes a contribution provides an email address for receipts and communication.

Extracting email addresses from Donorbox donor data is useful for importing into an email marketing platform, building segmented donor lists, migrating to another fundraising tool, consolidating donors across campaigns or creating a backup.

Working with the Results

Import into an email marketing platform

Donorbox handles donations but does not include advanced email marketing features. Import the extracted list into Mailchimp, Kit, Constant Contact or another platform for newsletters, campaign updates, year-end appeals and donor appreciation emails.

Segment by campaign

Export donors by campaign and extract each separately. This lets you send targeted updates to donors who gave to specific causes.

Consolidate across fundraising platforms

If you use multiple donation platforms, export from each and upload together. Deduplication shows your total unique email-address count.

This counts distinct email strings using case-insensitive matching, not distinct people. One person may have multiple addresses, and shared addresses may represent several people.

Verify addresses

Donor email addresses are usually valid because donation receipts are sent to them. Older records may be outdated. See Best email verification services.

Things to Know

Contact data is not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, donation amounts, dates, frequencies and other donor data are not carried over.

Recurring vs one-time donors

The export may include both recurring and one-time donors. Donorbox lets you filter by donation type before exporting.

Anonymous donations

Some donors may choose to give anonymously. Depending on Donorbox's export settings, their email may or may not appear in the export.

Tax receipts

Donorbox sends tax receipts to donor email addresses. These addresses are usually current because donors need them for tax purposes.

Donor consent

Donors provided their email for donation-related communication. Using it for marketing or broader outreach may require additional consent. Review your organisation's privacy policy and applicable regulations.
