How to Extract Emails from EmailOctopus Automations

Why Extract from EmailOctopus Automations?

EmailOctopus is an email marketing platform with automation features for welcome sequences, drip campaigns and time-based email series. Subscribers enter automations when they join a list, are added via the API or meet specific tag-based criteria.

Extracting email addresses from EmailOctopus automation data is useful for auditing which subscribers went through a specific sequence, building follow-up segments, sharing data with teams outside EmailOctopus or analyzing automation performance.

How to Export from EmailOctopus

Exporting a list

  1. Log in to EmailOctopus.
  2. Go to Lists.
  3. Select the list associated with your automation.
  4. Click Export to download as CSV.

Using tags

  1. Configure automations to apply tags at key steps (e.
  2. Go to the list and filter contacts by the relevant tag.
  3. Export the filtered contacts as CSV.

Filtering by status

  1. Go to Lists and select a list.
  2. Filter by status: subscribed, unsubscribed, bounced or complained.
  3. Export the filtered results as CSV.

Using the EmailOctopus API

  1. Use the /api/1.6/lists/{listId}/contacts endpoint.
  2. Filter by tags or status.
  3. Save results as JSON, then convert to CSV if needed.

How to Extract the Email Addresses

  1. Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
  2. Select "Text and files."
  3. Upload the CSV or JSON file from EmailOctopus. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
  4. Click "Extract emails."
  5. Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  6. Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources.

Extract subscribers tagged by different automation stages. Compare counts to measure sequence completion rates.

Cross-platform campaigns

Extract subscribers who completed an EmailOctopus automation to import into a CRM or different platform for the next phase.

Things to Know

Contact data is not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, tags, custom fields, signup dates and other EmailOctopus data are not carried over.

Tags for tracking

EmailOctopus uses tags for organizing contacts. Use automation steps that apply tags to track which subscribers have completed specific sequences.

List-based automations

EmailOctopus automations are tied to specific lists. Subscribers enter when they are added to the list associated with the automation.
