How to Extract Emails from SendGrid Marketing Contacts

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Extract from SendGrid Marketing Contacts?

SendGrid is an email delivery platform that includes both transactional email infrastructure and a marketing campaigns feature. The marketing side stores contact lists, segments and campaign data.

While the general SendGrid contact export is covered in Extract Emails from SendGrid Contacts, this article focuses on the marketing contacts feature, including lists and segments used for marketing campaigns.

  1. Log in to SendGrid.
  2. Go to Marketing then Contacts.
  3. Click Export (or All Contacts then the export option).
  4. Choose CSV format.
  5. SendGrid sends a download link by email when the export is ready.

Working with the Results

Import into a CRM

Import marketing contact emails into HubSpot, Salesforce or another CRM for sales and support tracking.

Cross-platform campaigns

Export a SendGrid marketing segment for use in another email marketing platform.

List consolidation

If you have contacts spread across multiple SendGrid lists, export all lists and upload together. Deduplication reveals your total unique marketing audience.

Clean up bounces

SendGrid tracks bounces and blocks. Export contacts, verify the list externally, and remove invalid addresses. See Best email verification services.

Migrate platforms

When switching from SendGrid Marketing to another platform, extract the full marketing contact list for import into the new platform.

Things to Know

Contact data is not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, custom fields, list memberships, engagement data and other SendGrid fields are not carried over.

Marketing vs. transactional

SendGrid separates marketing contacts from transactional email activity. This guide covers marketing contacts. For transactional logs, see Extract Emails from SendGrid Contacts.

Contact storage limits

SendGrid marketing plans have contact storage limits. The number of contacts you can store and export depends on your plan.

Unsubscribed contacts

Unsubscribed contacts may still be stored in SendGrid but should not be contacted for marketing purposes.

SendGrid general export

For the general SendGrid contact extraction guide, see Extract Emails from SendGrid Contacts.
