How to Extract Emails from ActiveCampaign Automations

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from ActiveCampaign Automations?
ActiveCampaign is an email marketing and CRM platform with powerful automation capabilities. Automations enroll contacts based on triggers (form submissions, tag additions, deal stage changes, website visits and more) and guide them through sequences of emails, tasks, CRM updates and conditional logic.
Extracting email addresses from automation enrollments is useful for auditing which contacts went through a specific process, building follow-up segments, sharing automation data with teams outside ActiveCampaign or analyzing automation performance.
While the general ActiveCampaign export is covered in Extract Emails from ActiveCampaign Export, this article focuses on automation-specific data.

Working with the Results
Automation performance analysis
Extract contacts from completed automations to measure reach. Compare counts across automations to identify which workflows process the most contacts.
Next-step campaigns
Extract contacts who completed one automation (e.g. lead nurture) to enroll in the next phase (e.g. sales outreach) through a different platform.
Re-engage dropped contacts
Extract contacts who entered an automation but did not complete it. Use the list for alternative outreach.
Share with sales teams
Export contacts from sales-related automations to share with team members who do not have ActiveCampaign access.
Verify addresses
Contacts in automations may include old or inactive addresses, especially from long-running automations. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Contact data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, tags, custom fields, automation steps reached and other ActiveCampaign data are not carried over.
Active vs. completed contacts
ActiveCampaign shows contacts currently in an automation and those who have completed it. Make sure you export the group you need.
Multiple automations
A contact can be enrolled in multiple automations simultaneously. They appear once in the extracted list after deduplication.
