How to Extract Emails from Lever Candidates

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Extract from Lever?

Lever is a recruiting platform that combines ATS (applicant tracking system) and CRM (candidate relationship management) capabilities. It provides job posting, candidate tracking, interview scheduling, nurture campaigns, reporting, analytics and integrations. Lever stores candidate email addresses collected through applications, sourcing and referrals.

Extracting email addresses from Lever data is useful for building talent community lists, migrating to another ATS, consolidating recruiting contacts, candidate re-engagement campaigns (with consent) or creating a backup.

How to Export from Lever

Exporting candidates

  1. Log in to Lever.
  2. Go to Candidates and apply filters (by pipeline stage, source, date, archive reason, etc.).
  3. Select candidates and click Export or use Bulk Actions then Export.
  4. Choose CSV format.
  5. The CSV includes email, name, current stage, source, date applied, tags and other fields.

Exporting from reports

  1. Go to Reports or Analytics.
  2. Run a candidate-related report.
  3. Export the report data as CSV.

Using Lever's data export

  1. Go to Settings then Data (if available on your plan).
  2. Request or download a bulk data export.

How to Extract the Email Addresses

  1. Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
  2. Select "Text and files."
  3. Upload the CSV file exported from Lever. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
  4. Click "Extract emails."
  5. Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  6. Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources.

Working with the Results

Build a talent pipeline

Import extracted emails into an email marketing platform or CRM to nurture relationships with past candidates. Send job alerts, company updates and industry content (with consent). Lever's built-in CRM features do this within the platform, but an external list serves as a backup.

Data migration

When moving from Lever to another ATS, extracting candidate emails ensures no contacts are lost during migration.

Consolidate sourcing contacts

If your recruiting team uses multiple sourcing tools (LinkedIn Recruiter, Lever, email inboxes, sourcing platforms), upload exports from all sources together. Deduplication shows your total unique candidate pool.

Verify addresses

Candidate emails may become outdated over time. Verification before re-engagement campaigns is recommended. See Best email verification services.

Things to Know

Contact data is not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, jobs, stages, sources, tags and other fields from the Lever export are not carried over.

Lever CRM

Lever combines ATS and CRM features. The CRM side manages candidate relationships with nurture campaigns and pipeline tracking. Extracted emails may overlap with candidates already in active nurture sequences.

Candidate consent

Candidate data was collected for recruiting. Using it for non-recruiting purposes requires additional consent depending on your jurisdiction and privacy policy.

Archived candidates

Lever stores both active and archived candidates. Exports may include both. Archived candidates who were rejected, withdrew or were hired may not be appropriate for all types of outreach.

Duplicate candidates

Lever tracks duplicate candidate profiles. Exports may include duplicates, but Email Extractor's deduplication handles this.

Lever permissions

Export permissions depend on user role. Super Admins and users with data export permissions can access candidate exports.
