Typeform vs JotForm vs Tally for Lead Capture Forms: Pricing, Features, Integrations and Conversion Rates

On this page

Why Your Form Tool Matters for Lead Generation

The form is where a visitor becomes a lead. Everything you spend on content, SEO, ads, and social media funnels down to a single moment: someone decides whether to fill in the form or leave. The form builder you choose affects the completion rate, which directly determines your cost per lead.

Typeform, JotForm, and Tally represent three different philosophies about what a form should be: Typeform pioneered the one-question-at-a-time conversational format that feels like a chat. JotForm offers the widest range of templates and features in a traditional multi-field layout. Tally reimagined the form builder as something as simple as a document editor, with a generous free plan that undercuts both.

The Core Difference: Conversational vs. Traditional

Typeform shows one question at a time. The respondent answers a question, presses Enter or clicks Next, and sees the next question. This conversational flow reduces cognitive load (the respondent never sees a wall of 15 fields at once) and creates a sense of momentum. Typeform reports that its forms achieve 2-3x higher completion rates than traditional forms for surveys and multi-step lead capture forms.

JotForm shows all fields on one page (or across tabbed pages). This traditional layout is faster for simple forms (name, email, phone) because the respondent can see everything at once and fill it in without waiting for transitions. For forms with fewer than 5 fields, traditional layouts often outperform conversational ones because the overhead of one-at-a-time transitions adds friction rather than reducing it.

Tally looks like a Notion document. You type your questions directly into a page, and Tally automatically detects form fields. The result sits somewhere between conversational and traditional: questions flow down the page in a clean, minimal layout, but the respondent can see and fill in multiple fields without page transitions. Tally's approach works well for both short and long forms.

Pricing

Typeform is the most expensive of the three. The free plan allows 10 responses per month across all forms, which is too few for any real lead capture. The Basic plan starts at $25/month for 100 responses per month. The Plus plan is $50/month for 1,000 responses. The Business plan is $83/month for 10,000 responses. If you generate more than 100 leads per month (which most active lead capture campaigns do), Typeform costs $300-$1,000+/year.

JotForm offers a more generous free plan: 5 forms with 100 monthly submissions per form. The Bronze plan is $34/month for 25 forms and 1,000 monthly submissions. Silver is $39/month for 50 forms and 2,500 submissions. Gold is $99/month for 100 forms and 10,000 submissions. JotForm also offers a one-time payment option for its enterprise tier.

Tally is the cost leader. The free plan includes unlimited forms and unlimited submissions with no per-response cap. The Pro plan is $29/month and adds custom domains, file uploads, team collaboration, and removal of Tally branding. For most lead capture use cases, the free plan is genuinely sufficient, making Tally effectively free.

When to Choose Each

Choose Typeform when the form experience is a core part of your brand. If you are a design agency, a SaaS company with a premium positioning, or a consultancy where the intake form is the first impression of working with you, Typeform's polish justifies the cost. Also choose Typeform for complex qualifying forms with conditional logic and calculated fields where the one-at-a-time flow prevents overwhelm.

Choose JotForm when you need advanced features on a traditional layout: payment processing, e-signatures, PDF generation, approval workflows, HIPAA compliance (for healthcare), or integrations with niche platforms. JotForm has the deepest feature set and the largest template library (10,000+) of any form builder. It is the Swiss Army knife.

Choose Tally when you want something simple that works and costs nothing. For standard lead capture (name, email, company, "what do you need help with?"), Tally handles it with zero cost and minimal setup time. Also choose Tally if you are creating many forms (Tally's unlimited free forms vs. Typeform's 10-response cap or JotForm's 5-form free limit) or if you want to embed forms in Notion-style pages.

Integrations That Matter for Lead Capture

All three integrate with major email platforms (Mailchimp, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, HubSpot) and CRMs (Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive) either natively or through Zapier. Typeform has the deepest native integrations (direct connections without Zapier to 30+ platforms). JotForm has native integrations to 100+ platforms. Tally relies more heavily on Zapier, Make, and webhooks for integrations, though its webhook support is robust enough for most custom workflows.

For most lead capture workflows, the integration path is simple: form submission triggers an automation that adds the contact to your email platform with the appropriate tags based on their form responses, and creates a record in your CRM. All three tools handle this workflow, so the choice comes down to the other factors above.

Processing Form Submissions

Form submissions accumulate across multiple forms, landing pages, and campaigns. If you are running 5 different lead magnets, each with its own form, your leads are scattered across 5 submission lists. Export submissions from your form builder (CSV), email platform (CSV), and CRM (CSV). Upload all files to Email Extractor to extract and deduplicate email addresses across all forms and systems. This gives you a single count of unique leads and reveals any contacts who submitted multiple forms (high-intent prospects worth prioritizing).
