How to Extract Emails from a Beehiiv Export
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from Beehiiv?
Beehiiv is a newsletter platform built for growth-focused creators, media companies and businesses. It offers newsletter publishing, subscriber management, referral programmes, ad networks, website hosting, paid subscriptions and analytics. Beehiiv stores subscriber records that include email addresses, subscription status, referral data, tags, custom fields, UTM data and engagement metrics.
Extracting email addresses from Beehiiv data is useful in several scenarios.
Migrating to another platform. When moving from Beehiiv to a different newsletter or email marketing platform, a clean email list provides a starting point for the new tool.
Backing up your list. Your subscriber list is your most important asset as a newsletter operator. An independent backup ensures you have a copy outside the platform.
Consolidating audiences. If you operate multiple publications or use Beehiiv alongside other email tools, extracting from each and deduplicating shows your total unique email-address count across all properties.
This counts distinct email strings using case-insensitive matching, not distinct people. One person may have multiple addresses, and shared addresses may represent several people.
Comparing with other sources. You may want to check which Beehiiv subscribers also exist in your CRM, your ecommerce platform, or another newsletter property you operate.
How to Export from Beehiiv
Beehiiv allows publication owners to export their subscriber data.
Exporting subscribers
- Log in to Beehiiv.
- Go to your publication's Settings or Audience section.
- Find the Export option (typically under Audience or Subscribers).
- Choose to export all subscribers or filter by status (active, inactive, unsubscribed).
- Beehiiv generates a CSV file. For large lists, you may receive an email when the export is ready.
- Download the file.
Export fields
Beehiiv subscriber exports can include: email address, subscription status (active, inactive, unsubscribed, pending), subscription date, UTM source/medium/campaign, referral data, tags, custom fields and engagement data. The exact columns depend on your Beehiiv plan and configuration.
How to Extract the Email Addresses
- Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
- Select "Text and files."
- Upload the CSV file (or files, if you exported from multiple publications or made separate exports). Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
- Click "Extract emails."
- Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
- Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources to see which export file each address came from.
Working with the Results
Combine multiple publications
If you run several Beehiiv publications, export from each and upload all files in one extraction. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Confirm subscription or membership status in the original records; matching addresses alone do not establish a current active membership.
Compare with a previous platform
If you migrated to Beehiiv from Substack, Mailchimp, Kit, or another platform, extract from both your old platform's export and your Beehiiv export. Deduplication confirms whether all subscribers made it through the migration.
Cross-reference with advertising data
If you use Beehiiv's ad network or external sponsorships, comparing your subscriber list with advertiser-provided lists (suppression lists, customer lists) may be relevant for campaign targeting. Extract and download CSV with sources to compare which addresses appear in both exports; review the original records before using the comparison for targeting.
Verify list health
Newsletter lists grow quickly through referral programmes and cross-promotions. Some of these subscribers may use disposable email addresses or may never engage. Run the extracted list through a verification service to identify risky addresses. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Column headers are not extracted
CSV column headers from Beehiiv are text, not email addresses, so they do not appear in the extracted results.
Subscriber data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Subscription status, tags, referral data, UTM parameters, engagement metrics and custom fields from the Beehiiv export are not carried over. If you need those fields in a new platform, import the original CSV directly.
Inactive and unsubscribed subscribers
Depending on your export settings, the CSV may include subscribers who are inactive or have unsubscribed. These addresses will appear in the extracted results. Do not re-subscribe these contacts on another platform. Review the status column in the original export.
Referral programme subscribers
Beehiiv's referral programme can generate subscribers quickly. Some referral-driven subscribers may be low quality (signed up only for the referral reward). After extraction, engagement data from the original export (if included) can help identify these.
Beehiiv's free tier
Beehiiv offers a free plan with subscriber limits. The export feature is available on all plans. If you are on the free plan and approaching the subscriber limit, extracting gives you an independent count to verify against Beehiiv's dashboard.
