Why Extract from Benchmark Email Reports?

Benchmark Email provides campaign reports including opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes and forwarded emails. Each report contains subscriber-level engagement data with email addresses.

While the general Benchmark Email export is covered in Extract Emails from Benchmark Email Export and segment data in Extract Emails from Benchmark Email Segments, this article focuses on report-specific exports for engagement-based lists.

How to Export from Benchmark Email

Exporting campaign activity

  1. Log in to Benchmark Email.
  2. Go to Reports.
  3. Select a sent campaign.
  4. View the report showing opens, clicks, bounces and unsubscribes.
  5. Click on a metric to view the subscriber list.
  6. Export as CSV.

Exporting by engagement type

  1. Open a campaign report.
  2. Click Opens to see subscribers who opened.
  3. Click Clicks to see subscribers who clicked.
  4. Click Bounces to see bounced addresses.

Using contact segments

  2. Retrieve opens, clicks and bounces with email addresses.
  3. Save results as JSON.

How to Extract the Email Addresses

  4. Click "Extract emails."
  5. Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  6. Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources.

Working with the Results

Engaged subscriber lists

Extract emails from subscribers who opened or clicked. Import into a CRM for follow-up.

Bounce management

Export bounced email addresses. Use the list to suppress these addresses in other platforms.

Re-engagement

Extract emails from subscribers who did not open. Use for win-back campaigns through different channels.

Verify addresses

Recorded opens and clicks do not confirm a human reader or a currently reachable mailbox. Security scanners can generate clicks, and privacy features can generate opens; compare activity with replies or conversions before interpreting engagement. See Mailchimp’s explanation of automated opens and clicks and Apple’s explanation of background content loading. Bounced addresses need removal. See Best email verification services.

Things to Know

Contact data is not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, custom fields, engagement metrics and other Benchmark Email fields are not carried over.

Reports vs. list exports

Report exports focus on per-campaign engagement. List exports give the full subscriber list with all attributes.
