How to Extract Emails from Constant Contact Segments

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract Segments from Constant Contact?
Constant Contact is an email marketing platform with contact segmentation features. Segments let you filter contacts by engagement level, location, purchase history, tags, list membership, contact activity and more.
Extracting email addresses from specific segments is useful for importing targeted lists into a CRM, sharing data with teams, running campaigns through a different platform, cross-referencing with other data sources or creating a backup.
While the general Constant Contact export is covered in Extract Emails from Constant Contact Export, this article focuses on exporting and extracting from specific segments.

Working with the Results
Import into a CRM
Import segmented contact emails into HubSpot, Salesforce or another CRM for targeted sales and support activities.
Cross-platform campaigns
Run campaigns through a different email marketing platform using a specific Constant Contact segment. Extract and import the list.
Compare segments
Export multiple segments and upload together. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Use the original records for person matching or status checks; the comparison only establishes that the same email string appears in multiple sources.
List cleanup
Extract emails from an inactive or unengaged segment. Use the list for re-engagement or removal decisions.
Verify addresses
Contacts in older or less engaged segments may have outdated addresses. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Contact data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, tags, lists, companies, engagement data and other Constant Contact fields are not carried over.
Segments update dynamically
Segments in Constant Contact update as contacts match or stop matching the criteria. The export captures contacts at the time of export.
Lists vs. segments
Lists are static groups contacts are added to. Segments are dynamic filters. Both can be exported.
