How to Extract Emails from GoHighLevel Contacts

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Extract from GoHighLevel?

GoHighLevel (often called GHL or HighLevel) is an all-in-one marketing and CRM platform designed primarily for marketing agencies and the businesses they serve. It combines a CRM, email and SMS marketing, sales funnels, landing pages, appointment scheduling, pipeline management, reputation management (review requests), website building, course hosting, membership sites, invoicing and white-label capabilities.

GoHighLevel stores contacts across all its features in a unified contact database. Extracting email addresses from GoHighLevel contacts is useful for migrating data between sub-accounts, importing into a separate tool, consolidating contacts across agencies and clients, verifying addresses or creating backups.

How to Export from GoHighLevel

  1. Log in to GoHighLevel.
  2. Go to Contacts.
  3. Apply any filters or smart lists if you want to export a subset (by tag, pipeline stage, source or custom field).
  4. Click Export to download the contacts as a CSV file.
  5. The CSV includes email, name, phone, tags, source, pipeline stage and custom fields.

Sub-account exports

GoHighLevel uses sub-accounts for different clients or businesses. Each sub-account has its own contact database. Export from each sub-account separately.

How to Extract the Email Addresses

  1. Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
  2. Select "Text and files."
  3. Upload the CSV file exported from GoHighLevel. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
  4. Click "Extract emails."
  5. Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  6. Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources.

Working with the Results

Migrate between sub-accounts

If you are reorganising client accounts or moving contacts between sub-accounts, the extracted list is a starting point for re-import.

Import into a separate CRM

Some businesses outgrow GoHighLevel or want a dedicated CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot) for specific needs. The extracted list can be imported into those platforms.

Import into a separate email platform

While GoHighLevel includes email marketing, some users prefer a dedicated platform for advanced email features. The extracted list can be imported into Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign or another email tool.

Consolidate across clients

Agencies managing multiple sub-accounts can export from each, upload all files to Email Extractor, and see the total unique email-address count across all clients.

This counts distinct email strings using case-insensitive matching, not distinct people. One person may have multiple addresses, and shared addresses may represent several people.

Verify addresses

Running the extracted list through a verification service is recommended, especially for contacts collected through funnels and landing pages. See Best email verification services.

Things to Know

Contact data is not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, phone numbers, tags, pipeline positions, custom fields and opportunity data from the GoHighLevel export are not carried over.

Sub-accounts

GoHighLevel organises businesses into sub-accounts. Each sub-account is a separate workspace with its own contacts, funnels, campaigns and settings. Exports are per sub-account.

White-label

Many GoHighLevel users white-label the platform under their own brand name. The export functionality works the same regardless of branding.

Built-in marketing

GoHighLevel includes email marketing, SMS marketing, social media scheduling and more. If you are extracting to use a separate marketing tool, avoid sending to the same contacts from both platforms.

Pipelines and opportunities

GoHighLevel uses pipelines to track deals and opportunities. Contacts can be in multiple pipelines. The contact export includes all contacts regardless of pipeline position.

Smart lists

GoHighLevel supports smart lists (dynamic filters) for organising contacts. Use smart lists to filter before export.

Agency perspective

GoHighLevel is designed for agencies. An agency account can have many sub-accounts (one per client). Each sub-account's contact data is separate. For a cross-client view, export from each sub-account and consolidate using Email Extractor.
