How to Extract Emails from HubSpot Marketing Lists
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from HubSpot Marketing Lists?
HubSpot is a CRM and marketing platform that provides contact management, email marketing, marketing automation, landing pages, forms, ads, social media, reporting and more. HubSpot marketing lists are collections of contacts grouped by criteria (static lists) or automatically updated based on filters (active/smart lists). These lists organise contacts for targeted email campaigns, workflows and reporting.
While HubSpot has extensive built-in email marketing features, extracting email addresses from marketing lists is useful for importing into a different email platform, comparing contacts across tools, creating a backup, sharing with teams that do not have HubSpot access or using in external tools.

Working with the Results
Import into another platform
If you use a secondary email marketing platform for certain campaigns (cold outreach, event invitations, partner communications), import the extracted list into that platform.
Share with teams
Teams without HubSpot access (event coordinators, partners, agencies) may need contact lists. Extract and share as a simple email list.
Compare with other data sources
Upload HubSpot exports alongside exports from other tools (Mailchimp, Salesforce, a spreadsheet). Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Use the original records for person matching or status checks; the comparison only establishes that the same email string appears in multiple sources.
Verify addresses
HubSpot contacts may include old or invalid email addresses, especially for large databases. Verification before campaigns is recommended. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Contact data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, companies, lifecycle stages, lead scores, custom properties and other HubSpot fields are not carried over.
Marketing vs non-marketing contacts
HubSpot distinguishes between marketing contacts (included in email send limits and pricing) and non-marketing contacts. Exports may include both types.
Static vs active lists
Static lists contain a fixed set of contacts. Active lists update automatically based on criteria. Both can be exported.
Export permissions
HubSpot export permissions depend on user role and plan. Some plans restrict export capabilities.
Large lists
HubSpot processes large exports asynchronously. Download links are sent by email and may take a few minutes to generate.
