Working with the Results
Identify engaged users
Users who initiated conversations are engaged with your product. Import them into an email marketing platform for product updates, feature announcements and upsell campaigns.
Support contact follow-up
Extract emails from users who had support conversations. Use the list for satisfaction surveys, follow-up on resolved issues or proactive outreach.
Lead qualification
Leads who asked questions via chat showed buying interest. Extract and import into a CRM for sales follow-up.
Consolidate across channels
Intercom handles conversations from chat, email and social media. Exporting captures all channel contacts in one list.
Verify addresses
Some Intercom leads may have provided temporary or inaccurate email addresses. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Contact data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, companies, conversation histories, tags, segments and custom attributes are not carried over.
Anonymous visitors
Some chat visitors do not provide an email address. They appear as anonymous leads in Intercom and will not have emails in the export.
Users vs. leads
Intercom distinguishes between users (signed up for your product) and leads (anonymous or identified visitors who have not signed up). Both may have email addresses.
Conversation participants
A conversation may involve multiple participants (user, team members, bots). Team member and bot emails are included in exports alongside user emails.
