How to Import Extracted Emails into Attio

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Import into Attio?

Attio is a modern, flexible CRM that adapts to your data and workflows. It provides contact and company management, custom objects, deal pipelines, email integration, reporting, automation and real-time data syncing. Attio automatically enriches contacts with publicly available data and syncs email conversations from connected inboxes.

After extracting email addresses with Email Extractor, you can import them into Attio to create people records, take advantage of automatic enrichment, add them to lists and track them through pipelines.

Preparing the File

Email Extractor gives you three download formats:

TXT file. One email per line.

CSV file. One column of email addresses. Works well for Attio import.

CSV with sources. Two columns: email and source file. Map only the email column during import.

For Attio, CSV is the recommended format.

How to Import

  1. Log in to Attio.
  2. Go to People (or the relevant object).
  3. Click Import and select CSV.
  4. Upload the CSV file.
  5. Map the email column to the Email addresses attribute.
  6. Choose how to handle duplicates (skip or merge).
  7. Review and start the import.
  8. Attio processes the file, creates people records and begins automatic enrichment.

After Import

Automatic enrichment

Attio enriches imported contacts with publicly available data, including company information, job titles, social profiles and other details based on the email address.

Add to lists

Attio uses lists to organise records. Add imported contacts to a list for tracking, outreach or pipeline management.

Connect email

Connect your email inbox (Gmail or Outlook) to Attio. Past and future email conversations with imported contacts are automatically linked to their records.

Build pipelines

Create deal or pipeline views to track imported contacts through sales stages.

Verify addresses

Consider verifying the extracted list before importing. See Best email verification services.

Things to Know

Automatic enrichment

Attio's enrichment works best with professional email addresses. Personal email addresses may not enrich with company data.

Flexible data model

Attio uses a flexible data model with custom objects and attributes. You can extend the default people and company objects with custom fields.

Email sync

When you connect your inbox, Attio automatically syncs email history. This populates the activity timeline for imported contacts.

Deduplication

Attio automatically deduplicates based on email address. If an imported email matches an existing record, the records can be merged.

Contact limits

Check your Attio plan for any record limits before importing a large list.

Email Extractor does not establish consent

Extracting email addresses does not create permission to send marketing emails. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
