How to Extract Emails from an Attio Export

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Extract from Attio?

Attio is a modern CRM that automatically enriches contact and company records using data from your team's email and calendar activity. It builds relationship intelligence by tracking interactions across your team, and organises contacts with custom attributes, lists and workflows. Attio stores contact records that include email addresses, phone numbers, job titles, companies, social profiles, interaction history and custom fields.

Extracting email addresses from Attio data is useful in several scenarios.

Migrating to another CRM. When switching from Attio to HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or another CRM, extracting email addresses helps verify that all contacts transferred correctly.

Building email campaign lists. If you want to email Attio contacts through a dedicated email marketing platform, extracting gives you a clean list to import into Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite or similar.

Consolidating contacts. If your team uses Attio alongside other tools (a separate email platform, a help desk, a project manager), extracting from each and deduplicating reveals your total unique email-address count.

This counts distinct email strings using case-insensitive matching, not distinct people. One person may have multiple addresses, and shared addresses may represent several people.

Backing up contacts. Before restructuring your CRM, changing team access or switching plans, extracting ensures you have an independent copy of every contact's email address.

How to Export from Attio

Attio allows you to export contact and company data.

Exporting contacts

  1. Log in to Attio.
  2. Navigate to the People (or Contacts) object in the sidebar.
  3. Apply any desired filters to export a subset, or view all contacts.
  4. Look for the Export option (this may be in the view's menu or toolbar).
  5. Choose CSV as the format.
  6. Download the file.

Export from lists

Attio organises records into Lists (similar to pipelines or boards). You can export records from a specific list:

  1. Open the list you want to export.
  2. Use the export option to download the list's records as CSV.

Export fields

Attio exports can include: email addresses (work, personal), first name, last name, company, job title, phone numbers, social profiles, custom attributes, list membership, interaction counts and dates. The exact columns depend on your Attio configuration and which attributes you have set up.

How to Extract the Email Addresses

  1. Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
  2. Select "Text and files."
  3. Upload the CSV file. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
  4. Click "Extract emails."
  5. Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  6. Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources.

Working with the Results

Import into an email platform

The extracted list can be imported into any email marketing platform that accepts CSV imports. Since the extraction produces email addresses only, contact enrichment data from Attio is not carried over.

Compare with another CRM

If you are migrating from Attio to another CRM, extract from both after migration. Comparing the two lists confirms that all contacts were successfully moved.

Combine with other data sources

If your team collects contacts through multiple channels (forms, events, outbound prospecting, inbound inquiries), extract from each source and deduplicate. This reveals your total unique email-address count across all channels.

Verify before outreach

Attio auto-enriches contacts from email and calendar data. Some of these contacts may be very old or from brief interactions. Run the extracted list through a verification service to identify inactive addresses. See Best email verification services.

Things to Know

Multiple email addresses per contact

Attio contacts can have multiple email addresses. All email addresses in the export are extracted. A contact with two email addresses contributes two entries to the extracted list.

Column headers are not extracted

CSV column headers from Attio are text, not email addresses, so they do not appear in the extracted results.

Contact data is not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, companies, job titles, interaction history, custom attributes and relationship intelligence from Attio are not carried over.

Auto-created contacts

Attio automatically creates contact records from your team's email and calendar activity. Your Attio database may include contacts you have never intentionally added. These auto-created contacts will appear in exports and extractions.

Enriched data

Attio enriches contact records with publicly available data (company info, job titles, social profiles). This enriched data is not included in a standard CSV export of email addresses.

Team data

Attio is built for teams. Your export may include contacts from across your entire team's activity. Internal team members' email addresses may also appear in the export. Be aware of this when importing the extracted list into an email marketing platform.
