How to Import Extracted Emails into Flodesk

Why Import into Flodesk?
After extracting email addresses from files using Email Extractor, you may want to bring them into Flodesk for email marketing. Flodesk is an email marketing platform known for its design-focused approach. It provides beautiful email templates, a visual email builder, forms, landing pages, workflows (automations), ecommerce features and subscriber management. Flodesk uses flat-rate pricing regardless of subscriber count, which makes it attractive for growing lists.
Importing an extracted email list into Flodesk lets you add subscribers, assign them to segments and send visually polished campaigns and automated workflows.
Before You Import
Prepare the file
Email Extractor produces a file with email addresses only. Flodesk accepts CSV imports. Email is the only required field.
- Extract email addresses using Email Extractor at bulkemailextractor.com.
- Download the results as CSV.
- The CSV contains one email address per row. This is ready for Flodesk import.
If you have first names or other data, combine with the email CSV in a spreadsheet before importing.
Choose a segment
Flodesk uses segments to organise subscribers. Segments function similarly to tags or groups in other platforms. Before importing, choose an existing segment or create a new one (e.g., "Imported Oct 2026").

How to Import
- Log in to Flodesk.
- Go to Audience (or Subscribers).
- Click Import subscribers (or Add subscribers).
- Choose Upload a CSV and select your file.
- Flodesk shows a field mapping screen. Map the email column to the Email field.
- Assign the imported subscribers to a segment.
- Review the import settings.
- Start the import.
- Flodesk processes the file and shows a summary of subscribers added.
After Import
Review the results
Check how many subscribers were added versus how many were in the file. Duplicates and previously unsubscribed addresses are handled automatically.
Send a campaign
Flodesk's visual email builder makes it easy to create polished campaigns. Before sending to all imported subscribers, test with a small segment. Monitor engagement metrics.
Set up workflows
Flodesk workflows are visual automations (welcome sequences, onboarding series, nurture sequences). Consider whether imported subscribers should enter an existing workflow or a new one designed for them.
Use segments for targeting
Create targeted campaigns by combining segments. For example, send a campaign to imported subscribers who are also in a specific interest segment.
Things to Know
Flat-rate pricing
Flodesk uses flat-rate pricing, meaning you pay the same amount regardless of how many subscribers you have. This makes importing large lists less of a financial concern compared to platforms that charge per subscriber.
Subscriber deduplication
Each email address exists once in your Flodesk account. Importing an address that already exists updates that subscriber (adds to new segments) rather than creating a duplicate.
Unsubscribes
If a subscriber previously unsubscribed from your Flodesk account, importing their email address does not re-subscribe them. Flodesk respects previous consent decisions.
No enrichment
Flodesk does not look up names or other details for imported email addresses. Subscribers imported with email only will have minimal profiles.
Segments vs lists
Flodesk uses segments instead of traditional lists. All subscribers live in one pool, and segments are labels applied to group them. A subscriber can belong to multiple segments. This is simpler than list-based systems where the same person can be a separate record on each list.
Design focus
Flodesk is optimised for design. Its email templates and builder produce visually appealing emails without needing design skills. Imported subscribers will receive these well-designed campaigns.
Ecommerce features
Flodesk offers checkout and sales page features for selling digital products. These are separate from the email marketing features but share the same subscriber base.
Limited automation complexity
Flodesk workflows cover common automation patterns (welcome series, nurture sequences) but may not offer the advanced branching, scoring and conditional logic found in platforms like ActiveCampaign or Klaviyo. For simple, design-focused email marketing, this is usually sufficient.
Analytics
Flodesk provides campaign analytics (open rate, click rate, unsubscribes). Use these to evaluate how imported subscribers engage compared to organic subscribers.
