How to Extract Emails from a Flodesk Export
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from Flodesk?
Flodesk is an email marketing platform designed for creative entrepreneurs, designers, photographers, coaches and small business owners. It is known for its visual email templates, simple interface and flat-rate pricing (no price increases as your list grows). Flodesk stores subscriber records that include email addresses, names, segments, form submissions and engagement data.
Extracting email addresses from Flodesk data is useful in several scenarios.
Migrating to another platform. When switching from Flodesk to a different email marketing service (Mailchimp, Kit, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite), a clean email list provides a starting point for the new platform.
Backing up your subscriber list. Having an independent copy of your subscriber email addresses outside of Flodesk ensures your list is safe regardless of account status or platform changes.
Consolidating audiences. If you use Flodesk alongside other tools (a course platform like Teachable or Kajabi, an ecommerce platform like Shopify, or a separate CRM), extracting from each and deduplicating shows your total unique email-address count.
This counts distinct email strings using case-insensitive matching, not distinct people. One person may have multiple addresses, and shared addresses may represent several people.
Comparing lists. Extracting from Flodesk and another platform reveals overlap and helps identify subscribers who only exist in one system.
How to Export from Flodesk
Flodesk allows you to export your subscriber list.
Exporting subscribers
- Log in to Flodesk.
- Go to the Audience section (or Subscribers).
- Select all subscribers, or filter by segment.
- Click Export (or find the export option in the actions menu).
- Flodesk generates a CSV file.
- Download the file.
Export fields
Flodesk exports typically include: email address, first name, last name, segments, subscription date and status. The exact columns depend on your Flodesk account configuration and which subscriber fields you collect.
How to Extract the Email Addresses
- Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
- Select "Text and files."
- Upload the CSV file. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
- Click "Extract emails."
- Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
- Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources.
Working with the Results
Migrate to a new platform
Import the extracted list into your new email marketing platform. Most platforms accept CSV imports. Since Email Extractor outputs email addresses only, subscriber names and segment memberships will not carry over. Use the original Flodesk CSV to map those fields during import.
Combine with course or ecommerce platforms
If you sell courses on Teachable, Kajabi or Thinkific, or products on Shopify or Etsy, export your customer list from those platforms too. Upload alongside the Flodesk export and extract. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Confirm subscription or membership status in the original records; matching addresses alone do not establish a current active membership.
Compare segments
If you use Flodesk segments to organise subscribers (e.g., "Freebie downloaders," "Course students," "VIP clients"), export each segment separately. Upload all files and download as CSV with sources. This reveals overlap between segments.
Verify list quality
Flodesk's flat-rate pricing means there is no financial pressure to clean your list, but deliverability still depends on list quality. Run the extracted list through a verification service to identify invalid addresses. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Column headers are not extracted
CSV column headers from Flodesk are text, not email addresses, so they do not appear in the extracted results.
Subscriber data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, segments, subscription dates and other metadata from the Flodesk export are not carried over. If you need those fields in a new platform, import the original CSV directly.
Unsubscribed subscribers
Depending on your export settings, Flodesk may include unsubscribed subscribers in the export. These addresses will appear in the extracted results. Do not re-subscribe these contacts on another platform. Check the status column in the original export.
Flat-rate pricing consideration
Unlike many email marketing platforms that charge based on subscriber count, Flodesk charges a flat monthly rate regardless of list size. This means there is no billing incentive to clean your list, but deliverability and engagement metrics still benefit from maintaining a healthy, verified list.
Form submissions
Flodesk offers forms and landing pages to collect subscribers. Form submission data is stored as part of the subscriber record. The export includes the subscriber's email regardless of which form they used to sign up.
Workflow and automation state
Flodesk supports email automation workflows. A subscriber's position in a workflow (which emails they have received, which they have not) is not included in the CSV export. If migrating, you will need to recreate automations and manage in-progress sequences on the new platform.
