How to Extract Emails from a MailerLite Export
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from MailerLite?
MailerLite is an email marketing platform known for its clean interface and affordable pricing. It is popular with small businesses, bloggers, freelancers and creators. MailerLite stores subscriber records that include email addresses, names, sign-up dates, groups, custom fields and engagement data. Subscribers are typically added through embedded forms, landing pages, pop-ups, integrations and manual imports.
Extracting email addresses from MailerLite data is useful in several scenarios.
Migrating to another platform. When switching from MailerLite to a different email marketing service, a clean email list provides a starting point for the new platform or a cross-reference to verify that all subscribers transferred correctly.
Consolidating subscribers. If you use MailerLite alongside other tools (a CRM, a form builder, a membership platform), extracting from each source and deduplicating produces one complete subscriber list with no duplicates.
Auditing list size. MailerLite charges based on subscriber count. Exporting and extracting gives you an independent count of unique email addresses, which you can compare against MailerLite's reported total.
Archiving before account changes. Before changing plans, merging accounts or transferring ownership, extracting all email addresses ensures you have a backup that does not depend on continued platform access.
How to Export from MailerLite
MailerLite allows you to export all subscribers or subscribers from specific groups.
Exporting all subscribers
- Log in to MailerLite.
- Go to Subscribers.
- Click Export (or the export/download button).
- Choose CSV format.
- Select which fields to include. Email is always included.
- Download the file. For large lists, MailerLite may send an email notification when the export is ready.
Exporting a specific group
- Go to Subscribers and then Groups.
- Select the group you want to export.
- Click Export within that group view.
- Choose CSV format and select fields.
- Download the file.
Exporting segments
If you have created segments in MailerLite (filtered views based on subscriber activity, location, custom fields, etc.), you can export subscribers matching a segment by filtering the subscriber list and then exporting the filtered results.
Export fields
MailerLite subscriber exports can include: email address, name, last name, subscriber status (active, unsubscribed, bounced, unconfirmed, junk), sign-up date, sign-up source, groups, custom fields and engagement data (opens, clicks). The available columns depend on your account's custom fields.
How to Extract the Email Addresses
- Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
- Select "Text and files."
- Upload the CSV file (or files, if you exported from multiple groups or made separate exports). Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
- Click "Extract emails."
- Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
- Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources to see which export file each address came from.
Working with the Results
Track group membership
If you export each MailerLite group separately (e.g., "Newsletter," "Product Updates," "Free Course"), uploading all files and downloading as CSV with sources shows which group each address belonged to. This helps you understand overlap between groups.
Compare with other platforms
Upload your MailerLite export alongside exports from your CRM, ecommerce platform (Shopify, WooCommerce), course platform (Teachable, Thinkific), or membership site. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Confirm subscription or membership status in the original records; matching addresses alone do not establish a current active membership.
Audit for inactive addresses
If your MailerLite account has been running for a long time, some subscriber addresses may no longer be active. After extraction, run the list through an email verification service to identify invalid or risky addresses. This is especially useful before importing into a new platform where bounce rates affect sender reputation. See Best email verification services.
Merge with form builder leads
If you use external form builders (Typeform, JotForm, Tally) alongside MailerLite's built-in forms, some leads may exist in the form builder but not in MailerLite (e.g., if an integration failed or was added later). Exporting from both and extracting together captures every address.
Things to Know
Column headers are not extracted
CSV column headers from MailerLite are text, not email addresses, so they do not appear in the extracted results.
Subscriber data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, groups, sign-up dates, custom fields and engagement metrics from the MailerLite export are not carried over. If you need those fields in your new platform, import the original CSV directly.
Subscriber statuses
MailerLite categorises subscribers as active, unsubscribed, bounced, unconfirmed or junk. Depending on your export settings, some or all statuses may be included. Addresses with unsubscribed, bounced or junk status will still appear in the extracted results. Do not re-subscribe these contacts on another platform. Review the status column in the original export to filter appropriately.
MailerLite Classic vs MailerLite New
MailerLite has two versions: MailerLite Classic and the newer MailerLite (sometimes called "New MailerLite"). The export process is similar in both, but the interface layout and menu labels may differ slightly. Both produce CSV files that work with Email Extractor.
Automation and workflow state
MailerLite supports email automations (welcome sequences, drip campaigns, triggers). A subscriber's position in an automation workflow is not included in the CSV export. If migrating, you will need to re-create automations and decide how to handle subscribers who were mid-sequence.
