How to Extract Emails from a Brevo Export

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Extract from a Brevo Export?

Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) is an email marketing and CRM platform that stores subscriber data in contact lists. Each contact record includes an email address alongside names, phone numbers, custom attributes, list memberships, engagement metrics and transactional email history.

Extracting email addresses from a Brevo export is useful for several scenarios.

Migrating to another platform. When switching from Brevo to a different email marketing service, a clean email list simplifies the migration. Some platforms handle a single-column email import more smoothly than a multi-column CSV with Brevo-specific fields.

Consolidating contacts across tools. If you use Brevo alongside a CRM, a form builder, or another marketing platform, extracting from each and deduplicating produces a single list of unique contacts.

Comparing across systems. You may want to check which contacts exist in Brevo but not in your CRM, or identify contacts in your CRM that have not been added to Brevo.

Auditing your contact database. An extracted, deduplicated list gives you a clear count of unique email addresses across all your Brevo lists, which is useful when reviewing plan costs (Brevo plans are based on email volume or features, but contact counts still affect storage and list management).

How to Export from Brevo

Brevo allows you to export contacts from the Contacts section.

  1. Log in to Brevo.
  2. Go to Contacts.
  3. Select a specific list or folder from the left sidebar, or view All Contacts.
  4. Click Export contacts (the download icon or the option in the menu).
  5. Choose which attributes (columns) to include. The email address is always included.
  6. Choose CSV as the file format.
  7. Brevo generates the export file. You may receive a download link immediately or via email, depending on the size of your contact list.

Exporting specific lists

If you have multiple lists in Brevo (e.g., "Newsletter Subscribers," "Webinar Registrants," "Customers"), you can export each list separately. This is useful if you want to track which list each address came from after extraction.

Exporting with filters

Brevo allows you to apply filters (by subscription status, engagement, attribute values, etc.) before exporting. If you only want active subscribers, filter for subscribed contacts before exporting.

How to Extract the Email Addresses

  1. Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
  2. Select "Text and files."
  3. Upload the CSV file (or files, if you exported from multiple lists). Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
  4. Click "Extract emails."
  5. Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  6. Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources to see which export file each address came from.

Working with the Results

Track contacts across lists

If you export each Brevo list separately and upload all the CSV files in a single extraction, downloading as CSV with sources shows which list each address came from. Compare all source names on each address to inspect overlap between the exported lists; the result is address membership, not proof of an active subscription.

Combine with other platforms

Upload your Brevo export alongside exports from other email tools (Mailchimp, Constant Contact, ActiveCampaign, a CRM) in a single extraction. Deduplication reveals the total number of unique contacts across all your platforms.

Verify before migration

Before importing an extracted list into a new platform, run it through an email verification service. Brevo may contain contacts that have bounced, unsubscribed, or become inactive. Importing unverified addresses into a new platform can result in bounces and deliverability issues. See Best email verification services.

Compare transactional and marketing contacts

Brevo handles both marketing and transactional emails. If you use both features, exporting from the marketing contacts section captures your marketing audience. Transactional contacts (people who receive order confirmations, password resets, etc.) may be stored differently. Compare the two to see how much overlap exists.

Things to Know

Column headers are not extracted

CSV column headers like "EMAIL" or "FIRSTNAME" are text, not email addresses, so they do not appear in the extracted results.

Names and other attributes are not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Contact names, phone numbers, custom attributes, list memberships, engagement metrics and SMS consent status from the Brevo export are not carried over. If you need those fields, import the original CSV file directly into your new platform.

Blocklisted contacts

Brevo maintains a blocklist of contacts who have hard-bounced, marked email as spam, or unsubscribed. These contacts may or may not appear in a standard export, depending on your export settings. If they are included, do not re-subscribe them on another platform. Honouring opt-outs is required under CAN-SPAM, GDPR and other regulations.

Brevo's contact limit

Brevo's free plan allows unlimited contacts but limits the number of emails sent per day. The export captures all contacts regardless of plan limitations.

Sendinblue references

If you have old exports labelled "Sendinblue" from before the platform's rebrand to Brevo, those CSV files work the same way. Upload them alongside newer Brevo exports for a complete extraction.
