How to Extract Emails from an AWeber Export
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from AWeber?
AWeber is an email marketing platform used by small businesses, bloggers, content creators and solopreneurs. It stores subscriber profiles that include email addresses, names, sign-up dates, tags, custom fields and engagement data. Subscribers are typically collected through sign-up forms, landing pages, integrations with WordPress or other website builders, and manual imports.
Extracting email addresses from AWeber data is useful in several scenarios.
Migrating to another platform. When switching from AWeber to a different email marketing service, a clean email list serves as a migration starting point or a cross-reference to verify that all subscribers transferred correctly.
Consolidating subscribers across lists. AWeber organises subscribers into lists. If you have multiple lists (one per product, opt-in form or audience), extracting from all of them and deduplicating shows your total unique email-address count.
This counts distinct email strings using case-insensitive matching, not distinct people. One person may have multiple addresses, and shared addresses may represent several people.
Comparing with other systems. You may want to check which AWeber subscribers are also in your CRM, which are missing from your ecommerce platform, or which contacts in another tool are not subscribed in AWeber.
Backing up before changes. Before merging lists, changing plans or closing an account, extracting all email addresses ensures you have an independent copy of every subscriber's address.
How to Export from AWeber
AWeber allows you to export subscribers from each list.
Exporting a subscriber list
- Log in to AWeber.
- Go to Subscribers.
- Select the list you want to export from the list dropdown at the top.
- Click Export (or the export/download option). AWeber exports to CSV format.
- Choose whether to export all subscribers or only those matching certain criteria (e.g., subscribed, unsubscribed, date range).
- Download the CSV file.
Repeat for each list you want to extract from.
Export fields
AWeber subscriber exports typically include: email address, first name, last name, subscriber status (subscribed, unsubscribed, unconfirmed), sign-up date, IP address, tags, custom fields and engagement data. The specific columns depend on the fields defined for each list.
Exporting by tag or segment
If you need subscribers with a specific tag or in a specific segment, you can filter before exporting. Apply the tag or segment filter in the Subscribers view, then export the filtered results.
How to Extract the Email Addresses
- Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
- Select "Text and files."
- Upload the CSV file (or files, if you exported from multiple lists). Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
- Click "Extract emails."
- Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
- Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources to see which export file each address came from.
Working with the Results
Find your true subscriber count
AWeber charges based on subscriber count, and subscribers who appear on multiple lists are counted once per list. Exporting from all lists and extracting with deduplication shows how many unique email addresses you actually have. This number may be lower than AWeber's total subscriber count if people are on multiple lists.
Compare with a new platform
If you are migrating to a new email marketing platform, import your extracted list and compare it against subscribers already imported through AWeber's migration tools or direct data transfer. This reveals any addresses that were missed during the migration.
Combine with website contacts
Upload your AWeber export alongside contact exports from your website CMS, ecommerce platform, membership plugin or contact form tool. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Confirm subscription or membership status in the original records; matching addresses alone do not establish a current active membership.
Clean before importing elsewhere
AWeber exports may include unsubscribed, bounced or unconfirmed subscribers depending on export settings. After extraction, consider running the list through an email verification service to remove invalid addresses before importing into a new platform. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Column headers are not extracted
CSV column headers like "Email" or "First Name" are text, not email addresses, so they do not appear in the extracted results.
Subscriber data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, tags, sign-up dates, IP addresses, custom fields and engagement metrics from the AWeber export are not carried over. If you need those fields in your new platform, import the original CSV directly.
Unsubscribed and bounced subscribers
Depending on your export settings, the CSV may include subscribers who have unsubscribed or whose addresses have bounced. These addresses will appear in the extracted results. Do not re-subscribe these contacts on another platform without their explicit consent. Check the subscriber status column in the original export to filter appropriately.
Unconfirmed subscribers
AWeber uses confirmed opt-in (double opt-in) by default. Unconfirmed subscribers have signed up but never clicked the confirmation link. These addresses may be invalid or abandoned. They may appear in exports depending on your filter settings.
List automations and tags
AWeber uses tags and automations to segment and route subscribers. Tags are metadata attached to subscriber records. They appear in the export but are not preserved in the extracted output. If you need to maintain tag-based segments, work with the original CSV and filter by tag column before extracting or after importing.
