How to Import Extracted Emails into Mailjet

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Import into Mailjet?

After extracting email addresses from files using Email Extractor, you may want to bring them into Mailjet for email marketing. Mailjet (part of Sinch/Mailgun) is an email platform that handles both marketing campaigns and transactional email through a single service. It offers a drag-and-drop email editor, real-time collaboration on email templates, contact management, segmentation, A/B testing, automations, an SMTP relay and a developer-friendly API.

Importing an extracted email list into Mailjet lets you add contacts to lists, send marketing campaigns and manage your subscriber base.

Before You Import

Prepare the file

Email Extractor produces a file with email addresses only. Mailjet accepts CSV imports. Email is the only required field.

  1. Extract email addresses using Email Extractor at bulkemailextractor.com.
  2. Download the results as CSV.
  3. The CSV contains one email address per row. This is ready for Mailjet import.

If you have names or other data, combine with the email CSV in a spreadsheet before importing. Mailjet supports contact properties (custom fields) during import.

Choose or create a contact list

Mailjet organises contacts into contact lists. Before importing, choose an existing list or create a new one.

Consider verification

If the extracted emails come from old files or uncertain sources, verify the list before importing. Mailjet may reject or flag lists with high bounce rates. See Best email verification services.

How to Import

  1. Log in to Mailjet.
  2. Go to Contacts > Contact lists.
  3. Select a list or create a new one.
  4. Click Import contacts (or Add contacts).
  5. Choose Upload a CSV file and select your file.
  6. Mailjet shows a field mapping screen. Map the email column to the Email field.
  7. Choose whether to add new contacts only, or update existing ones as well.
  8. Review the import settings.
  9. Start the import.
  10. Mailjet processes the file and shows a summary of contacts added, updated and skipped.

After Import

Review the import results

Mailjet reports how many contacts were added, how many already existed and how many were not imported. Review these numbers.

Send a campaign

Before sending to all imported contacts, test with a small segment. Monitor open rate, click rate, bounce rate and spam complaints.

Set up segments

Mailjet supports segments based on contact properties and engagement. Create a segment for imported contacts to track their performance separately.

Explore automations

Mailjet offers automation workflows for welcome emails, follow-up sequences and re-engagement. Consider whether imported contacts should enter a workflow.

Things to Know

Contact deduplication

Each email address exists once in your Mailjet account. Importing an address that already exists updates that contact (adds to new lists, updates properties) rather than creating a duplicate.

Unsubscribes

If a contact previously unsubscribed, importing their email address does not re-subscribe them. Mailjet respects previous consent decisions.

Pricing

Mailjet offers a free plan (up to 200 emails per day as of the time of writing). Paid plans are based on monthly email volume rather than contact count. However, large contact lists still affect account health and deliverability.

No enrichment

Mailjet does not look up names or other details for imported email addresses. Contacts imported with email only will have minimal profiles.

Marketing vs transactional

Mailjet handles both marketing and transactional email. Imported contacts are for marketing purposes. Transactional emails (order confirmations, password resets) use the API or SMTP relay and are separate from marketing lists.

Real-time collaboration

Mailjet's email editor supports real-time collaboration, allowing multiple team members to work on the same email template simultaneously. This is a design and editing feature, not related to contact management.

Contact properties

Mailjet supports custom contact properties (similar to custom fields). During import, you can map CSV columns to these properties. Email-only imports do not populate any properties.

Sub-accounts

Mailjet supports sub-accounts for agencies and teams managing multiple brands. Each sub-account has its own contact lists and campaigns.

Sender verification

Before sending campaigns, Mailjet requires verifying your sender domain or email address. Set this up before importing and sending to your list.
