How to Import Extracted Emails into Moosend
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Import into Moosend?
After extracting email addresses from files using Email Extractor, you may want to bring them into Moosend for email marketing. Moosend (now part of Sitecore) is an email marketing and automation platform that offers email campaigns, landing pages, subscription forms, automations, segmentation, A/B testing and reporting. It is known for its clean interface and affordable pricing.
Importing an extracted email list into Moosend lets you add subscribers to mailing lists, send campaigns and set up automated workflows.
Before You Import
Prepare the file
Email Extractor produces a file with email addresses only. Moosend accepts CSV, TXT and Excel imports. Email is the only required field.
- Extract email addresses using Email Extractor at bulkemailextractor.com.
- Download the results as CSV or TXT.
- The file contains one email address per row. This is ready for Moosend import.
If you have names or other data, combine with the email file in a spreadsheet before importing.
Choose or create a mailing list
Moosend organises subscribers into mailing lists. Before importing, choose an existing list or create a new one.
Consider verification
If the extracted emails come from old files or uncertain sources, verify the list before importing. See Best email verification services.
How to Import
- Log in to Moosend.
- Go to Audience > Mailing Lists.
- Select an existing list or create a new one.
- Click Import subscribers (or Add subscribers).
- Choose Import from file and select your CSV, TXT or Excel file.
- Moosend shows a field mapping screen. Map the email column to the Email field.
- Review the import settings.
- Start the import.
- Moosend processes the file and shows a summary of subscribers added, updated and skipped.
After Import
Review the import results
Moosend reports how many subscribers were added, how many already existed and how many were not imported. Review these numbers.
Send a campaign
Before sending a full campaign to imported subscribers, test with a small segment. Monitor open rate, click rate, bounce rate and unsubscribes.
Set up automations
Moosend offers visual automation workflows (welcome series, abandoned cart, re-engagement). Consider whether imported subscribers should enter an automation.
Create segments
Use Moosend's segmentation to group imported subscribers by engagement, source or other criteria.
Things to Know
Subscriber deduplication
Each email address exists once per mailing list. Importing an address that already exists on the list updates that subscriber rather than creating a duplicate.
Unsubscribes
If a subscriber previously unsubscribed, importing their email address does not re-subscribe them. Moosend respects previous consent decisions.
Pricing
Moosend offers a free trial and paid plans based on subscriber count. Importing subscribers increases your billable count.
No enrichment
Moosend does not look up names or other details for imported email addresses. Subscribers imported with email only will have minimal profiles.
Mailing lists
Moosend uses a list-based system. Each mailing list has its own subscribers, and a subscriber can exist on multiple lists. Choose the appropriate list during import.
Automations
Moosend's automation builder supports triggers based on list membership, subscriber activity and custom events. Imported subscribers can trigger automations if the trigger conditions match.
Landing pages and forms
Moosend includes a landing page builder and subscription forms. These are separate features that collect new subscribers directly into your mailing lists.
Sitecore acquisition
Moosend was acquired by Sitecore. The platform continues to operate as Moosend, but integrations with the wider Sitecore ecosystem may be available for enterprise users.
