Best Community Platforms for Collecting Member Emails

On this page

Why Community Platforms Collect Member Emails

Online community platforms require email addresses for account creation, login, notifications and communication. This makes your community platform a natural source of audience email addresses. For creators, educators and businesses, community members represent an engaged audience worth reaching through email.

Extracting member emails from community platforms is useful for building an owned email list, importing into a dedicated marketing platform, comparing community members with newsletter subscribers, consolidating audiences across channels or creating a backup.

Circle

Circle is a community platform for creators and businesses. It provides discussion spaces, events, courses, live streams, member directories and integrations.

Email collection: At signup (required). Supports free and paid memberships.

How to extract: Export members as CSV, then upload to Email Extractor. See Extract emails from Circle community members.

Mighty Networks

Mighty Networks is a community and course platform. It provides community feeds, groups, courses, events, challenges, live streaming and branded mobile apps.

Discord

Discord is a communication platform with text channels, voice channels, video, threads and forums. It is widely used for communities around gaming, tech, business, education and interests.

Email collection: Discord does not share member emails with server administrators. Email collection requires external tools (forms, bots, linked platforms).

How to extract: Export data from whatever external tool you use to collect emails. See Extract emails from Discord server members.

Slack

Slack is a messaging platform for teams and communities. Community Slack workspaces are used for professional groups, open-source projects and interest groups.

Skool

Skool is a community and course platform that combines a community feed with a classroom for courses. It provides gamification, leaderboards and a simple interface.

Email collection: At signup (required). Members join with their email address.

Facebook Groups

Facebook Groups are widely used for communities. Group administrators can see member information but cannot directly export member email addresses.

Email collection: Facebook does not expose member email addresses to group administrators. Like Discord, email collection requires external tools.

Geneva

Geneva is a group communication platform with chat rooms, forums, events and audio/video. It is designed for communities and clubs.

Email collection: At signup (required).

How to Extract from Any Community Platform

The process is the same across platforms that offer member exports:

  1. Export members from the community platform as CSV.
  2. Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
  3. Select "Text and files."
  4. Upload the file. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
  5. Click "Extract emails."
  6. Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  7. Download as TXT, CSV, or CSV with sources.

For platforms that do not share member emails (Discord, Facebook Groups), collect emails through external forms and export from those tools.

Consolidating Across Communities

If you manage communities on multiple platforms, upload all member exports together. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Confirm subscription or membership status in the original records; matching addresses alone do not establish a current active membership.

After Extraction

Import into a marketing platform

Community platforms handle engagement and discussion, not email marketing. Import the extracted list into Kit, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign or another platform for newsletters, announcements and campaigns.

Build an owned email list

Social platforms and community platforms can change their rules, algorithms or features. An email list is a communication channel you own and control.

Verify addresses

Member email addresses are generally valid since they are used for account login. Verification before campaigns is recommended. See Best email verification services.
