How to Extract Emails from Circle Community Members

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Extract from Circle?

Circle is a community platform for creators, businesses and educators. It provides discussion spaces, events, courses, live streams, member directories, direct messaging, integrations and custom branding. Circle communities collect member email addresses at signup.

Extracting email addresses from Circle is useful for importing into a dedicated email marketing platform, building a communication channel independent of Circle, consolidating community members with other audience lists, reaching members with announcements or creating a backup.

How to Export from Circle

Exporting members

  1. Log in to Circle as an admin.
  2. Go to Admin then Members.
  3. Filter by space, tag, plan or status if needed.
  4. Click Export to download as CSV.
  5. The CSV includes email, name, join date, spaces, tags, plan and other fields.

Filtering before export

  1. Use Circle's member filters to narrow by specific spaces, tags, membership plans or activity levels.
  2. Export the filtered list for a targeted extraction.

How to Extract the Email Addresses

  1. Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
  2. Select "Text and files."
  3. Upload the CSV file exported from Circle. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
  4. Click "Extract emails."
  5. Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  6. Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources.

Working with the Results

Import into a marketing platform

Circle handles community engagement but is not an email marketing platform. Import the extracted list into Kit, Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign or another platform for newsletters, launch announcements and engagement campaigns.

Build an owned email list

Having member emails in your own email platform provides a communication channel you control, independent of Circle's notifications and algorithms.

Consolidate with other audiences

Upload Circle member exports alongside exports from your newsletter, course platform, Patreon or other channels. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Confirm subscription or membership status in the original records; matching addresses alone do not establish a current active membership.

Verify addresses

Member email addresses are generally valid since they are used for account login. Verification before campaigns is recommended. See Best email verification services.

Things to Know

Contact data is not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, spaces, tags, plans, join dates and other fields from the Circle export are not carried over.

Free vs paid members

Circle supports both free and paid membership plans. Both types provide email addresses at signup.

Spaces

Circle organises content into spaces (similar to channels). Members can belong to different spaces. The export may include space membership data.

Circle integrations

Circle integrates with tools like Zapier, Make, Kit, Mailchimp and others. Some integrations sync member data automatically, which may make manual extraction unnecessary.

Notification preferences

Circle members set their own notification preferences. Email marketing through an external platform is separate from Circle's built-in notifications.
