How to Extract Emails from Mailjet Segments

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Extract Segments from Mailjet?

Mailjet is an email delivery and marketing platform with contact management, segmentation and campaign features. Its segmentation tools let you filter contacts by engagement, contact properties, subscription date and custom fields.

Extracting email addresses from specific Mailjet segments is useful for importing targeted lists into a CRM, sharing data with teams, running campaigns through a different platform or cross-referencing with other data sources.

While the general Mailjet export is covered in Extract Emails from Mailjet Export, this article focuses on segment-specific exports.

How to Export from Mailjet

Exporting a contact list

  1. Log in to Mailjet.
  2. Go to Contacts then Contact Lists.
  3. Select the list you want to export.
  4. Click Export contacts and choose CSV format.

Creating a segment for export

  1. Go to Contacts then Segments.
  2. Click Create a Segment.
  3. Set conditions:
    • Contact property equals a value (name, city, country).
    • Opened or clicked a specific campaign.
    • Subscribed to a specific list.
    • Custom contact property matches criteria.
  4. Preview the segment.
  5. Use the segment in a campaign or export the matching contacts.

Exporting contacts with filters

  1. Go to Contacts then All Contacts.
  2. Use the filter options to narrow by list, status or contact properties.
  3. Export the filtered results as CSV.

Using the Mailjet API

  1. Use the /v3/REST/contact endpoint with filters.
  2. Filter by contact list, contact data or engagement.
  3. Save results as JSON.

How to Extract the Email Addresses

  4. Click "Extract emails."
  5. Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  6. Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources.

Working with the Results

Import into a CRM

Import segmented contact emails into HubSpot, Salesforce or another CRM for sales follow-up.

Cross-platform campaigns

Run campaigns through a different platform using a specific Mailjet segment.

Compare segments

Export multiple segments and upload together. Deduplication combines the addresses into one unique list. Compare the original exports separately to measure overlap between segments.

List cleanup

Extract emails from inactive or unengaged segments for verification or removal. See Best email verification services.

Migrate platforms

When switching from Mailjet to another platform, export all segments and extract a deduplicated list for import.

Things to Know

Contact data is not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, contact properties, engagement data and other Mailjet fields are not carried over.

Contact properties

Mailjet uses contact properties (custom fields) for segmentation. Ensure contacts have the properties set before creating segments.

Transactional vs. marketing

Mailjet handles both transactional and marketing email. Segments apply to marketing contacts. Transactional recipient data is available through the API.
