How to Extract Emails from Squarespace Orders and Contacts

Why Extract from Squarespace?
Squarespace is a website builder and ecommerce platform. It provides website templates, online store, product management, checkout, payment processing, email campaigns (Squarespace Email Campaigns), scheduling, forms, newsletter blocks, analytics and domain management. Squarespace stores contact data from orders, form submissions, newsletter signups and account registrations.
Extracting email addresses from Squarespace data is useful for importing into a dedicated email marketing platform, consolidating contacts from multiple sources, comparing buyers with newsletter subscribers or creating a backup.
How to Export from Squarespace
Exporting orders
- Log in to Squarespace.
- Go to Commerce then Orders.
- Click Export to download orders as CSV.
- The CSV includes customer email, name, order details, shipping address and other fields.
Exporting contacts (profiles)
- Go to Contacts (or Profiles).
- Filter by segment (customers, subscribers, members, etc.) if needed.
- Export as CSV.
- The CSV includes email, name, tags, subscriber status and other fields.
Exporting newsletter subscribers
- Go to Marketing then Email Campaigns.
- Export the mailing list as CSV.
Exporting form submissions
- Go to the form block's submissions.
- Export as CSV. Form submissions include email addresses if the form has an email field.
How to Extract the Email Addresses
- Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
- Select "Text and files."
- Upload the CSV file(s) exported from Squarespace. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
- Click "Extract emails."
- Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
- Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources to see which export each email came from.
Working with the Results
Import into a marketing platform
Squarespace Email Campaigns provides basic email marketing. For advanced features (automation sequences, detailed segmentation, A/B testing), import the extracted list into Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Kit or another dedicated platform.
Consolidate all Squarespace contacts
Upload order exports, contact exports, newsletter exports and form submission exports together. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Use the original transaction records to confirm purchases and match customers; unique addresses are not a count of unique people.
Verify addresses
Customer and subscriber emails are generally valid. However, older contacts may have become inactive. Verification before campaigns is recommended. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Contact data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, order history, addresses, tags and other fields from the Squarespace export are not carried over.
Contacts panel
Squarespace's Contacts panel (or Profiles) aggregates data from all sources: orders, form submissions, newsletter signups, member signups and donations. It provides a unified view of all contacts.
Newsletter opt-in
Squarespace distinguishes between contacts who opted in to newsletters and those who did not. The Contacts export includes subscriber status, but Email Extractor does not distinguish between them.
Member areas
Squarespace supports member areas (gated content with paid or free memberships). Member email addresses appear in the Contacts panel.
Squarespace Email Campaigns
Squarespace's built-in email marketing tool sends campaigns to contacts who opted in. It uses the same contact database.
Form submissions
Squarespace forms (contact forms, inquiry forms, custom forms) collect email addresses. Each form's submissions can be exported separately.
Scheduling
Squarespace Scheduling (formerly Acuity Scheduling) collects client email addresses. These may or may not appear in the main Contacts panel depending on integration settings.
