How to Extract Emails from WooCommerce Customers
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from WooCommerce?
WooCommerce is an open-source ecommerce plugin for WordPress. It powers a large share of online stores and provides product management, checkout, payment processing, shipping, tax, coupons, inventory, reporting and extensions. WooCommerce stores customer data for everyone who has placed an order or created an account.
Extracting email addresses from WooCommerce customer data is useful for importing into a dedicated email marketing platform, consolidating customer data across tools, building segmented customer lists, comparing with newsletter subscribers or creating a backup.
How to Export from WooCommerce
Built-in export
- Log in to WordPress admin.
- Go to WooCommerce then Customers.
- Click Download to export customers as CSV.
- The CSV includes email, name, username, date registered, orders count, total spent and address fields.
Exporting from orders
- Go to WooCommerce then Orders.
- Use a filter or select the orders you want.
- Export orders as CSV. Order data includes billing email addresses.
Export plugins
WooCommerce has many export plugins (WP All Export, Advanced Order Export, Customer/Order/Coupon Export) that provide more control over which fields to include and more export formats.

Working with the Results
Import into an email marketing platform
WooCommerce does not include built-in email marketing (beyond transactional emails). Import the extracted list into Mailchimp, Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign, Omnisend or another platform for campaigns and automations.
Consolidate with newsletter subscribers
If you collect newsletter subscribers through a WordPress form or popup, compare those emails with WooCommerce customers. Some customers may not be subscribed to your newsletter, and some subscribers may not have purchased.
Segment by purchase behaviour
Export different customer segments from WooCommerce (high-value customers, one-time buyers, lapsed customers) and process each separately for targeted campaigns.
Verify addresses
Customer emails from orders are generally valid. However, lapsed customer emails may have become inactive. Verification before re-engagement campaigns is recommended. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Contact data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, order history, total spent, addresses and other fields from the WooCommerce export are not carried over.
Billing vs shipping email
WooCommerce orders have a billing email address. There is typically no separate shipping email. The billing email is what appears in exports.
Guest vs account customers
WooCommerce supports both guest checkout and account-based checkout. Guest customers have an email associated with their order but no user account. Both types appear in exports.
WordPress users
WooCommerce customers who create accounts become WordPress users. The customer export includes their user email.
Marketing consent
WooCommerce does not have a built-in marketing consent checkbox by default. Some stores add one through plugins or custom code. If consent matters for your use case, check your store's configuration.
Multiple stores
If you operate multiple WooCommerce stores (on different WordPress installations), export from each and upload together for deduplication.
Extensions
WooCommerce has an extensive ecosystem of extensions for email marketing, CRM integration and customer management. Some may already sync customer data to other platforms.
