How to Extract Emails from Typeform Responses
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from Typeform Responses?
Typeform is a form and survey builder used for contact forms, lead capture, event registrations, application forms, feedback surveys and quizzes. When respondents fill out a Typeform, their answers are stored in the Typeform platform, including any email addresses they enter.
Over time, a Typeform account accumulates responses across many forms. Extracting the email addresses from these responses is useful for several scenarios.
Building a contact list from multiple forms. If you run several Typeforms (a newsletter sign-up, an event registration, a contact form, a feedback survey), email addresses are spread across separate forms. Extracting from all of them produces a single deduplicated list.
Moving contacts to an email platform or CRM. While Typeform integrates with many platforms directly, those integrations may not have been set up from the start, or may have missed responses during downtime. Exporting and extracting ensures you capture every email address.
Archiving. Before deleting old forms or downgrading a Typeform plan, you may want to extract all email addresses from historical responses.
Combining with other sources. If contacts come in through Typeform, a website contact form, email, and phone, extracting from all sources and deduplicating produces one complete list.
How to Export from Typeform
Typeform allows you to export responses from each form individually.
- Log in to Typeform and open the form whose responses you want to export.
- Go to the Results tab.
- Click Export (the download icon or "Download all responses" option).
- Choose CSV as the export format.
- Download the file.
The exported CSV file contains one row per response and one column per form field. If your form includes an email question, the email addresses will appear in the column for that question. If the form has multiple email fields (for example, a personal email and a work email), each will have its own column.
Repeat for each form you want to extract from.
Responses without a dedicated email field
Some Typeforms may not have a dedicated email question but still contain email addresses. For example, a "How can we reach you?" open-text field might contain email addresses typed by respondents. Email Extractor scans all text in the file, so it will find email addresses in any column, not just columns labelled "email."
How to Extract the Email Addresses
- Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
- Select "Text and files."
- Upload the CSV file (or files, if you exported from multiple Typeforms). Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
- Click "Extract emails."
- Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically. If the same person submitted multiple forms, their address appears only once.
- Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources to see which form export each address came from.
Working with the Results
Track which form each contact came from
If you export each Typeform separately and upload all the CSV files in a single extraction, downloading as CSV with sources shows which form's export file each address appeared in. This helps you distinguish newsletter sign-ups from event registrants from contact form enquiries.
Combine with other form tools
If you use Typeform alongside other form builders (Google Forms, JotForm, Wufoo), export from each and upload all the files in one extraction. Deduplication handles contacts who submitted forms on multiple platforms.
Filter responses before exporting
Typeform allows you to filter responses by date range, completion status and specific answers. If you only want email addresses from completed responses, or from a certain time period, apply filters before exporting. This produces a cleaner file with fewer irrelevant entries.
Catch missed integrations
If you set up a Typeform-to-Mailchimp or Typeform-to-HubSpot integration after the form was already collecting responses, the earlier responses may not have synced. Exporting all responses and extracting ensures you capture addresses from before the integration was active.
Things to Know
Not all responses include an email address
If the email field on your Typeform is optional, some responses will not include an email address. Those responses will not contribute to the extracted list. Only responses where a valid email address was entered will appear.
Column headers are not extracted
CSV column headers like "What is your email address?" are text, not email addresses, so they do not appear in the extracted results.
Other response data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Respondent names, survey answers, timestamps and other form field data from the Typeform export are not carried over. If you need those fields, work with the original CSV file directly.
Typeform's hidden fields
Typeform supports hidden fields, which are values passed through the form URL (often used for tracking sources or pre-filling known information). If a hidden field contains an email address, it will appear in the export and will be extracted. Review the results to determine whether hidden-field addresses are contacts you want to keep.
Consent and follow-up
Just because someone filled out a form does not mean they consented to marketing emails. Review what the form told respondents about how their email would be used. A contact form submission is a request for a response, not a newsletter opt-in. See Email consent types explained.
