How to Extract Emails from Crisp Contacts
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from Crisp?
Crisp is a customer messaging platform that provides live chat, a shared inbox, chatbots, a knowledge base, email campaigns, a CRM, co-browsing and video calls. It is popular among startups and small to mid-size businesses as an affordable alternative to Intercom and Zendesk.
Crisp stores contacts (people) who have chatted, emailed or been added to the system. Extracting email addresses from Crisp data is useful for consolidating customer data, importing into a dedicated email marketing platform, deduplicating against other tools or creating a backup of your contact database.
How to Export from Crisp
Exporting contacts
- Log in to Crisp.
- Go to Contacts (or People).
- Filter contacts by segment, tag or other criteria.
- Export the contacts as a CSV file.
- The CSV includes email, name, company, location, tags, last active date and other fields.
Data export
Crisp may offer a full data export for admins that includes all contact data and conversation history.
How to Extract the Email Addresses
- Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
- Select "Text and files."
- Upload the CSV file(s) exported from Crisp. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
- Click "Extract emails."
- Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
- Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources.
Working with the Results
Import into an email marketing platform
Crisp includes basic email campaign features, but for advanced email marketing (automation sequences, A/B testing, detailed analytics), import the extracted list into a dedicated platform (Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, MailerLite).
Consolidate customer data
If you use Crisp alongside a CRM and other tools, extract and compare contacts across all platforms. Deduplication reveals your total unique email-address count.
This counts distinct email strings using case-insensitive matching, not distinct people. One person may have multiple addresses, and shared addresses may represent several people.
Migration
If you are moving from Crisp to Intercom, Zendesk or another platform, the extracted email list helps plan the migration.
Verify addresses
Chat-captured email addresses may include typos. Running the extracted list through a verification service improves data quality. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Contact data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, companies, locations, tags, conversation history and other fields from the Crisp export are not carried over.
Chat-captured emails
Crisp can ask visitors for their email through the chat widget (either as a pre-chat form or during conversation). These emails create or update contact records.
Anonymous visitors
Visitors who chat without providing an email remain anonymous. They have no email and will not appear in extraction results.
Shared inbox
Crisp's shared inbox aggregates messages from chat, email, social media and other channels. Contact data from all channels is stored in the same contact database.
Built-in CRM
Crisp includes a basic CRM for managing contacts and companies. CRM data is included in contact exports.
Segments
Crisp supports segments (groups of contacts based on criteria). Export specific segments for targeted extraction.
Email campaigns
Crisp offers email campaign features. Contacts used in campaigns are part of the same contact database.
Integrations
Crisp integrates with CRMs, email platforms and other tools. Contacts may already be synced to other systems through integrations.
