How to Extract Emails from a Folk CRM Export
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from Folk CRM?
Folk is a lightweight CRM designed for relationship management across sales, recruiting, fundraising and partnerships. It features a spreadsheet-like interface, email integration, contact enrichment, mail merge and pipeline management. Folk stores contact records that include email addresses, names, companies, job titles, tags, notes, custom fields and interaction history.
Extracting email addresses from Folk data is useful in several scenarios.
Migrating to another CRM. When switching from Folk to HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or another platform, extracting email addresses helps verify migration completeness.
Building email campaign lists. Folk has built-in mail merge for simple campaigns, but if you need advanced email marketing features (automations, templates, analytics), extracting gives you a clean list to import into Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign or another email platform.
Consolidating contacts. If your team uses Folk alongside other tools, extracting from each and deduplicating reveals your total unique email-address count.
This counts distinct email strings using case-insensitive matching, not distinct people. One person may have multiple addresses, and shared addresses may represent several people.
Backing up contacts. Before making significant changes to your CRM, extracting ensures you have an independent copy of every contact's email address.
How to Export from Folk
Folk allows you to export contacts.
Exporting contacts
- Log in to Folk.
- Go to the Contacts or People view (or open a specific group or pipeline).
- Select the contacts you want to export, or select all.
- Click Export (look for the export option in the toolbar or menu).
- Choose CSV as the format.
- Download the file.
Exporting from groups
Folk organises contacts into groups (similar to lists or segments). You can export from a specific group to get only those contacts:
- Open the group you want to export.
- Select all contacts in the group.
- Export as CSV.
Export fields
Folk exports can include: email addresses (personal, work), first name, last name, company, job title, phone numbers, social profiles (LinkedIn, Twitter), tags, custom fields, notes, pipeline stage and last contacted date. The exact columns depend on your Folk configuration.
How to Extract the Email Addresses
- Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
- Select "Text and files."
- Upload the CSV file. Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
- Click "Extract emails."
- Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
- Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources.
Working with the Results
Import into an email marketing platform
The extracted list can be imported into any email marketing platform. This is useful when you need features that Folk's built-in mail merge does not offer, such as automated sequences, landing pages or detailed campaign analytics.
Compare with other data sources
If you collect contacts through forms, events, LinkedIn or other channels, extract from each source alongside Folk. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Confirm subscription or membership status in the original records; matching addresses alone do not establish a current active membership.
Prepare for CRM migration
Extract from Folk before migration and from the new CRM after. Comparing both lists confirms all contacts transferred correctly.
Verify addresses
Folk contacts may include addresses gathered from various sources. Run the extracted list through a verification service to identify invalid addresses before using them for outreach. See Best email verification services.
Things to Know
Multiple email addresses per contact
Folk contacts can have multiple email addresses (personal, work). All email addresses in the export are extracted. A contact with two email addresses contributes two entries to the extracted list.
Column headers are not extracted
CSV column headers from Folk are text, not email addresses, so they do not appear in the extracted results.
Contact data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, companies, tags, pipeline stages, notes, custom fields and interaction history from the Folk export are not carried over.
Contact enrichment
Folk offers contact enrichment features that add information to contact records from public sources. This enriched data may be included in exports as additional columns, but the extraction focuses only on email addresses.
Groups and pipelines
Folk's groups and pipelines help organise contacts by purpose (e.g., "Sales leads," "Investors," "Candidates"). If you want to extract from a specific group, export that group rather than all contacts.
Shared workspaces
Folk supports team workspaces with shared contacts. Your export may include contacts added by other team members. Be aware of this when using the extracted list for email campaigns.
