How to Extract Emails from a GetResponse Export
On this page
Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.
Why Extract from GetResponse?
GetResponse is an email marketing and marketing automation platform that includes email campaigns, autoresponders, landing pages, webinars, conversion funnels and ecommerce tools. It stores contact records that include email addresses, names, custom fields, tags, scoring, consent information and engagement data.
Extracting email addresses from GetResponse data is useful in several scenarios.
Migrating to another platform. When switching email marketing platforms, extracting a clean email list lets you verify that every contact made it to the new system, or use it as the import source directly.
Consolidating across lists and accounts. GetResponse organises contacts into lists. If you have built separate lists for different products, campaigns, or lead magnets, extracting and deduplicating reveals your total unique email-address count.
This counts distinct email strings using case-insensitive matching, not distinct people. One person may have multiple addresses, and shared addresses may represent several people.
Cross-referencing with other tools. You may want to identify which GetResponse contacts exist in your CRM, which webinar attendees are not on your email list, or which ecommerce customers are not receiving your campaigns.
Preparing for plan changes. Before downgrading your GetResponse plan or switching to a different tool, extracting ensures you have an independent backup of every contact's email address.
How to Export from GetResponse
GetResponse allows you to export contacts from each list.
Exporting a contact list
- Log in to GetResponse.
- Go to Contacts (or Lists).
- Select the list you want to export.
- Click the Actions menu and choose Export contacts (or the export option available in your version).
- Select which fields to include. Email is always included.
- Choose CSV as the export format.
- Download the file.
Repeat for each list you want to extract from.
Exporting a segment or search result
If you want to export a subset of contacts:
- Go to Contacts and use the search or segment filters to narrow the list (by tag, engagement, date range, custom field value, etc.).
- Export the filtered result.
Export fields
GetResponse contact exports can include: email address, name, subscription date, subscription method, tags, custom fields (phone, company, location, etc.), scoring points and consent details. The exact columns depend on which fields you select during export and which custom fields are defined on your list.
How to Extract the Email Addresses
- Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
- Select "Text and files."
- Upload the CSV file (or files, if you exported from multiple lists). Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
- Click "Extract emails."
- Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
- Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources to see which export file each address came from.
Working with the Results
Count unique subscribers
GetResponse counts contacts per list for billing purposes. A contact on three lists counts three times. Exporting from all lists and extracting with deduplication shows how many unique email addresses you actually have. This is useful for comparing actual reach across plans or platforms.
Verify a migration
After migrating to a new email platform, extract from both the GetResponse export and the new platform's contact export. Upload both files in one extraction. The deduplicated result should match. If the counts differ, addresses were lost or duplicated during migration.
Combine webinar and email contacts
GetResponse includes a webinar feature. If webinar registrants are stored separately from email list subscribers, export both and extract together. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Confirm subscription or membership status in the original records; matching addresses alone do not establish a current active membership.
Merge with landing page leads
If you use GetResponse landing pages, leads collected through those pages are typically added to a GetResponse list automatically. However, if you also use external landing pages (Unbounce, Leadpages, Carrd), exporting from each source and extracting together ensures no leads are missed.
Things to Know
Column headers are not extracted
CSV column headers from GetResponse are text, not email addresses, so they do not appear in the extracted results.
Contact data is not preserved
Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, tags, custom fields, scoring, consent details and engagement metrics from the GetResponse export are not carried over. If you need those fields in your new platform, import the original CSV directly.
Removed and bounced contacts
GetResponse maintains records of contacts who have unsubscribed, complained (marked as spam) or whose addresses have bounced. Depending on your export settings and filters, these may appear in the export. Do not re-subscribe these contacts on another platform. Check the status or subscription-related columns in the original export to distinguish active from inactive contacts.
GDPR consent fields
GetResponse includes consent management features for GDPR compliance. Exports can include consent-related columns showing what each contact consented to and when. These fields are not preserved in the extracted output. If you are operating under GDPR or similar regulations, review the consent columns in the original export before using extracted addresses for communications. See GDPR and email extraction.
Autoresponder and automation data
GetResponse supports autoresponders and marketing automation workflows. The position of each contact in an autoresponder sequence or automation workflow is not included in the CSV export. If you are migrating, you will need to re-enrol contacts in automations on the new platform.
