How to Extract Emails from an Omnisend Export

On this page

Export and import options vary by plan, permissions and product version. Check the platform’s current help documentation if a menu or format differs. Use only contact data you are authorized to process; an extracted address is not proof of marketing consent.

Why Extract from Omnisend?

Omnisend is an ecommerce-focused email and SMS marketing platform. It integrates with Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce, Wix and other ecommerce platforms to sync customer data and automate marketing workflows. Omnisend stores contact records that include email addresses, phone numbers, purchase history, website activity, segment memberships, tags, consent status and custom properties.

Extracting email addresses from Omnisend data is useful in several scenarios.

Migrating to another platform. When switching from Omnisend to a different email marketing service, a clean email list provides a starting point for the new platform or a cross-reference to verify migration completeness.

Consolidating contacts across tools. If you use Omnisend alongside a CRM, a help desk, a loyalty programme platform, or a separate SMS tool, extracting from each and deduplicating reveals your total unique email-address count.

This counts distinct email strings using case-insensitive matching, not distinct people. One person may have multiple addresses, and shared addresses may represent several people.

Comparing with your ecommerce platform. You may want to check whether all Shopify or WooCommerce customers are in Omnisend, or whether Omnisend contains contacts that no longer exist in your store.

Backing up before changes. Before switching ecommerce platforms, changing Omnisend plans, or restructuring your marketing stack, extracting ensures you have an independent copy of every contact's email address.

How to Export from Omnisend

Omnisend allows you to export contacts from segments and lists.

Exporting contacts

  1. Log in to Omnisend.
  2. Go to Contacts (or Audience).
  3. Select the segment or list you want to export, or choose all contacts.
  4. Click Export (or the export option in the actions menu).
  5. Choose CSV as the format.
  6. Select which fields to include. Email is always included.
  7. Download the file. For large lists, Omnisend may email you when the export is ready.

Export fields

Omnisend contact exports can include: email address, phone number, first name, last name, country, city, subscription status (subscribed, non-subscribed, unsubscribed), consent date, source, tags, custom properties and ecommerce data (order count, total revenue, last order date, average order value). The exact columns depend on your selections and the data synced from your ecommerce platform.

How to Extract the Email Addresses

  1. Go to bulkemailextractor.com.
  2. Select "Text and files."
  3. Upload the CSV file (or files, if you exported from multiple segments). Up to 25 MB per file, 100 MB per batch.
  4. Click "Extract emails."
  5. Review the results. Duplicates are removed automatically.
  6. Download as TXT for a plain list, CSV for a single-column spreadsheet, or CSV with sources to see which export file each address came from.

Working with the Results

Compare with your ecommerce platform

Upload your Omnisend export alongside a customer export from Shopify, WooCommerce or BigCommerce. Deduplication reveals whether all store customers are subscribed in Omnisend. Contacts missing from Omnisend may have been lost during sync or may have unsubscribed.

Track segment overlap

If you export multiple Omnisend segments separately (e.g., "Active buyers," "Abandoned cart," "Lapsed customers"), uploading all files and downloading as CSV with sources shows which segments each address belongs to. This helps you understand audience overlap.

Combine with loyalty or review platforms

If you use platforms like Smile.io, Yotpo, Stamped or LoyaltyLion alongside Omnisend, export from each and extract together. Deduplication creates a combined list of unique email addresses. Download CSV with sources and compare the source names to find addresses shared by the exports. Confirm subscription or membership status in the original records; matching addresses alone do not establish a current active membership.

Verify before migration

Ecommerce contact lists can include old customer addresses that are no longer active. Run the extracted list through a verification service before importing into a new platform. See Best email verification services.

Things to Know

Column headers are not extracted

CSV column headers from Omnisend are text, not email addresses, so they do not appear in the extracted results.

Customer data is not preserved

Email Extractor outputs email addresses only. Names, phone numbers, purchase history, order counts, revenue figures, consent status, tags and custom properties from the Omnisend export are not carried over. If you need those fields in your new platform, import the original CSV directly.

SMS-only contacts

Some Omnisend contacts may have a phone number but no email address (SMS-only subscribers). These contacts will not appear in the extracted results since there is no email address to extract.

Non-subscribed contacts

Omnisend distinguishes between subscribed contacts (opted in to marketing), non-subscribed contacts (exist in the system but have not opted in) and unsubscribed contacts (explicitly opted out). Depending on your export settings, all statuses may be included. Check the subscription status column in the original export before using addresses for marketing.

Omnisend and ecommerce platform sync

Omnisend syncs contacts from your ecommerce platform continuously. If you export from both Omnisend and your ecommerce platform, you may see slight differences due to sync timing, contacts that exist only in one system, or contacts that were deleted from one but not the other.
